Belmont University’s Department of Athletics is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator of Academic Services and Sports Ministry. Under the supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Student Services, this position coordinates and delivers a variety of academic support services to Belmont’s student-athlete population with the goal of helping them achieve their academic goals and meet academic eligibility requirements. In addition, this position will act as a liaison to the Office of University Ministries and coordinate spiritual formation opportunities for the staff, coaches, and student athletes of Belmont.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; master’s preferred. 1-2 years of academic advising and student support experience, preferably within an intercollegiate athletic environment, as well as a passion for and commitment to spiritual development within a Christian intercollegiate atmosphere. The successful candidate will possess the following: ability to effectively counsel and advise student-athletes with academic, professional, spiritual and/or personal questions and concerns; knowledge of NCAA academic eligibility requirements and University curriculum requirements as they relate to student-athlete academic advising; exceptional listening skills with an ability to handle sensitive materials and information in a confidential manner; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of groups, including student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff and parents; skilled in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and effectively handling multiple tasks with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced office setting; knowledge of Belmont University database and software systems, including Banner, Argos, and DegreeWorks preferred.
