The Development and Alumni Relations Assistant will support the department by assisting with developing strategy and execution of events and programming; supporting Athletics volunteer and recognition programs, including the Varsity C Club and the Women's Leadership Council; aiding and coordinating strategic reporting and analytics for the unit; providing research on giving history and capability of alumni, identifying and recruiting volunteers, and working directly with coaches and other staff in Athletics; and creating strategy for young alumni engagement and manage all communication and programming Responsibilities include; *In collaboration with the Associate Director of Development, creating strategy and providing support for events, including drafting events marketing tools, creating registration materials, creating and administering online pages, managing work orders, preparing invitation lists, managing registration lists, creating nametags and other event collateral, and organizing and providing materials to staff and volunteers as necessary *Monitoring marketing and event projects and coordinating deliverables with various on campus partners and third party vendors *Utilizing alumni database to track attendance records, notes, volunteer engagement data, and create alumni relation engagement reports. *Developing, coordinating and evaluating a wide array of programs and projects to promote a lifelong relationship with Columbia Athletics Young Alumni (those who graduated within the past ten years). *Administering alumni relations social media account, in coordination with marketing and communications, including developing social media strategy, creating and posting original content, and ensuring timely and effective response to social media interactions. *Providing administrative support for alumni relations meetings and events, including scheduling, preparing invitation lists, meeting preparation, work orders, and meeting notes. *Assisting with the stewardship process and initiatives, including the execution of recognition plans for annual fund and leadership level donor recognition and supporting the benefit and hospitality programs for select sports *Supporting the annual fund team in creating, tracking and reporting sport program fundraising dollar and donor goals *Ensuring effective and accurate communications with Gift Systems, the Advance Database System, and other Columbia Athletics and Office of Alumni & Development colleagues *Assisting in supporting Athletics volunteer groups, including the Varsity C Club and Women's Leadership Council, in partnership with Athletics Department staff *Maintaining contact information of alumni, parents, student-athletes and friends in the Advance Database System. *Assisting with creating and producing material for department e-newsletters and related content.
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent required. Minimum of 0-2 years' related experience. Ability to develop, establish and sustain relationships with skilled professionals; Persuasive and tactful interpersonal communication skills; Highly sophisticated written and oral communication skills; Ability to work evenings and weekends. Understanding of the mission and purpose of institutions of higher education.
