Successful coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level is preferred

Indian Hills Community College is an NJCAA Division I institution. The Head Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for managing all aspects of the baseball program located on the Centerville, IA campus. The head coach must make prospective student-athletes aware of all policies and procedures and be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff and students. The head coach responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student athlete recruitment, scheduling games, conducting camps, facility oversight and maintaining an operating and scholarship budget for the program.
Perform recruitment duties relative to the baseball program in cooperation with Athletic Director and in accordance with NJCAA Division I rules and regulations.
Schedule, organize and oversee all practices, fall scrimmages and spring regular season games. Organize travel and game day preparations.
In cooperation with Athletic Director, maintain operating and scholarship budget for baseball program.
Evaluate player performance in practice and in games and design plans/strategies for improvement.
Provide individual and group instruction focused on the technical improvement of the individual.
Facilitate baseball camps as directed.
Coordinate and/or assist in athletic booster club activities including sales of baseball field fence signage and media guide advertisements.
Work with the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Division I Baseball Umpire assignor to ensure proper scheduling of umpires for all regular season home games.
Assist Athletic Department Coordinator to ensure payment of umpires is processed.
Maintain a high level of professionalism on and off the field toward student-athletes and other coaches, peers, parents, and members of the community.
Promote student body support for athletic events by planning activities that will appeal to students.
Work diligently for placement at four-year colleges and universities for successful student athletes in the Indian Hills Community College baseball program.
Be responsible for the conduct of players athletically, academically and socially on and off the field.
Maintain a monitoring system of class attendance and satisfactory progress toward each player’s educational goal.
Dress, act and represent Indian Hills Community College appropriately at all athletic events, practices and activities.
Monitor financial aid packages for all recruits to assure that educational costs, as well as room/board costs, are properly tracked for the Indian Hills Foundation, Athletic Department and National Junior College Athletic Association.
Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches.
Aid in indoor and outdoor facility maintenance.
Inventory and maintain equipment.
Assist the Indian Hills Marketing Department with press releases and handle public relations associated with the baseball program.
Develop a high quality recruitment program supported with a written, well defined plan including recruitment, scheduling, contacts and results.
Conduct other duties with equal diligence and effort as given to the athletic program.
Participate and assist with IHCC Foundation activities.
Willing to obtain commercial driver’s license.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
