NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics
POSITION: Technology Specialist 12 Month, 100% Academic Professional Appointment
Primary Position Function: Provides support for hardware, software, network, system administration, desktop computing and other related technology services within Illinois Athletics. Responsibilities • Serve as technology consultant and innovator for Illinois Athletics staff and coaches • Apply technology with minimum supervision and using considerable assessment, evaluation, originality, and ingenuity • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate student technical support staff • Act as a technical and institutional resource for other Technology Specialists providing mentoring, training and advice as needed • Maintain knowledge of current and upcoming technology trends and their potential impact on the Illinois Athletics operations • Support for athletics-specific technology including but not limited to scoreboards, sport specific performance and analytical systems, digital signage and other venue technology • Perform system administration for premise and cloud infrastructure, including but not limited to OS upgrades, patch management, antivirus/antimalware, backup strategy and documentation of services/configuration • Develop, implement and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPO) and other endpoint configuration settings for departmental workstations • Build, deploy and maintain custom software packages for departmental workstations via endpoint management systems • Act as service manager for third party solutions, determining appropriate access levels for users • Participate in a team to provide on-premise and on-call support for athletics and entertainment events. Support includes but is not limited to in-game live statistics feeds, external media networking support, instant replay hardware, security camera systems and stats scoreboard interface • Rotate on-call availability with other team members for infrastructure and end user issues • Work with Assistant Director of Sports Technology in planning/deploying new services • Work with Assistant Director of Sports Technology in planning/implementing IT policy • Knowledge of and compliance with specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institutional rules that relate to this position is required.

Qualifications Education Bachelor degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
Experience: Required • Two years of progressive experience in the IT field, with experience in server administration and end user support • Demonstrated familiarity with the following software and platforms: Windows, MacOS, Microsoft SCCM, Amazon Web Services • Experience with planning, deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure
Preferred • Familiarity with working within an athletic environment is strongly preferred
Knowledge • Demonstrated ability to diagnose network problems and maintain endpoint security • Proven ability to manage multiple workstations via endpoint management systems and software • Excellent interpersonal communication skills • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks in time sensitive situations
