•Facilitate and maintain a study environment conducive to learning. •Monitor and counsel student-athletes during supervised study sessions. •Make sure student-athletes are on task and completing academic work at all times. •Provide study strategies to help students prepare for exams. •Monitor check-in/check-out for all student-athletes entering study hall, maintain attendance and communicate with coaches and the Academic Coordinator about any infractions earned or behavioral issues. •Assist with documenting funds used for the Book Scholarship Program •On a weekly basis, meet with first-year, transfer, and returning student-athletes whose GPA is below 2.5 •Discuss class progress including grades, upcoming assignments / papers / exams. •Provide feedback and suggestions for improving on assignments, papers, and exams. •Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress toward degree relating institutional requirements and NCAA legislation •Assist with putting together and distributing the absence forms for each team and collecting them from the student-athletes. •Assist with course registration workshops / scheduling as well as other workshops created on a need basis •Co-advise the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Keep record of community service events and assist with programming of events. •Build strong, professional relationships with all student-athletes. •Additional duties include special projects assigned requiring data collection, analysis, and interpretation of reports.
Experience as a student-athlete at the college level or experience working with college student-athletes. The candidate should have a strong academic record and outstanding personal integrity. Minimum of a bachelor degree earned.
The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have a high attention level for detail. In addition, the successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
