The Director of Volleyball Operations will direct all aspects of the Volleyball program. Responsible for managing the efficient operation of the volleyball office, will make budget decisions independently; oversee all travel for recruiting and team competitions; Supervise student employees and managers.
Responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to: 1. Direct and manage the volleyball budget. Make final budget decisions independent of any other staff members. 2. Supervise volleyball office, reporting directly to the Head Volleyball Coach. 3. Manage schedules (including travel) for all volleyball coaches and student-athletes. 4. Manage travel arrangements, including air travel, hotels, ground transportation, and meals through the department travel agency. Supervise all decisions made while the team travels for University business. 5. Direct the purchasing process for volleyball. 6. Supervise all student employees and managers, including the hiring and termination process. 7. Oversee practice schedule working with athletic facilities staff to reserve fields for practice times, games, camps and clinics. 8. Manage other duties and responsibilities as needed. 9. Direct film exchange program (BIG EAST program and non-conference opponents) 10. Oversee uniform and equipment orders. Handle all NIKE orders and inventory management, while managing the operating budget. Position will work directly with NIKE to design and order all equipment and apparel, including game uniforms, for the team. 11. Direct and manage practice times based on the schedules of students and coaches. 12. Supervise statistical analysis for coaches including offensive and defensive efficiency analysis, shooting chart organization.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Strong understanding of the sport of volleyball and the administration that goes along with it.
Ability to manage (students/interns)
Strong knowledge of technology.
Understanding of budgeting and purchasing processes.
Strong organizational skills
This position will require evenings, weekends, and holiday hours. This position will require travel.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Previous experience playing or coaching the sport of volleyball preferred
Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
Proven strong work ethic and attention to detail
