Executive, Executive - Associate Athletics Director
Brown University invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Athletics – Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives. This position serves as a key member of the Department of Athletics senior management team with a specific focus on diversity & inclusion initiatives. The position will take a leadership role in relationship to: developing and implementing diversity and inclusion programs and trainings; supporting and advising student-athletes and staff, ensuring best thinking and practices related to searching, hiring, onboarding, and retention of staff; working with staff (especially coaches) on climate and building of community in the department; assessment related to the department’s diversity and inclusion action plan; and program administrator responsibilities for select varsity sports.
All department employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League and ECAC rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the department are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Athletic Department).

Five years of direct or related experience including, but not limited to working in collegiate athletics as an administrator or coach, higher education administration, student leadership, or related field; prior experience working in college athletics preferred.
Strong commitment to and demonstrated skills for working with and advising students from diverse identities, backgrounds, and experiences.
Experience writing and executing diversity plans.
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills required, ability to effectively engage and present to a wide variety of constituents, both internally and externally.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with exceptional listening skills and high emotional intelligence.
Strong quantitative skills, experience creating and analyzing reports.
Ability to identify, develop, implement and evaluate new student-related programming, specifically in regards to diversity and inclusion.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends.
Knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background and DMV checks satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
