Brandeis University seeks to hire a Head Fencing Coach to administer all aspects of a NCAA Division III fencing program competing as a member of the University Athletic Association. This person will plan and implement a training schedule, daily practices, contest coaching, recruiting, home event management, travel management, attending division, department, and UAA meetings, and program fundraising. Teaching Physical Education classes as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required. Previous college coaching experience preferred. Knowledge of all three fencing weapons and how to teach them. Knowledge of group and individual instruction techniques in fencing. Good fundamental knowledge of fencing equipment. Knowledge of procedures and scheduling in college fencing.
Examples of Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate in-season practices schedule and develop an off-season training schedule and program. Direct all contest coaching at home and on the road including managing team travel details. Maintain fencing equipment including physical education equipment.
Manage the student-athlete recruitment effort for the men’s and women’s fencing program.
Coordinate fundraising and alumni relations activities for the fencing program.
Teach physical education classes within the University’s degree required program including maintaining current certifications when applicable.
Responsible for mentoring fencing student-athletes and providing advice in the areas of academics, disciplinary and personal matters.
