NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics POSITION: Social Media Strategist 12 Month service basis, 100% Academic Professional Appointment
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Design, produce and implement coordinated creative campaigns across all mediums of digital media for the Athletics program. Major Duties and Responsibilities • Create and deploy social media plans and tactics across all social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, blogs, and more) as part of overall digital marketing mix in conjunction with various departments • Write, edit, and produce content for the Fighting Illini social media channels and coordinate with assigned staff for sport specific accounts • Regular, strategic active engagement with social media communities • Evaluate existing social media channels, create plan for improvements, and implement changes in collaboration with departments • Coordinate and collaborate with the external team to lead implementation of integrated digital campaigns • Monitor global social media accounts and targeted campaigns in order to conduct analysis and present recommendations to optimize social media strategies • Research, plan, and implement contests and promotions • Track and analyze social media performance and create reports for review by executive leadership on a weekly basis • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with, specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.

QUALIFICATIONS Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Communication or related field. Experience:
Required • Minimum of one to three years digital media experience. • Experience in the full Adobe Creative Suite. Preferred: • Experience with graphic design, and an understanding of designing within a system of standards that support larger brand positioning.
Knowledge: • Must work well in a collaborative, team environment. • Must possess a broad understanding and passion for innovative design-preferably within athletics. • Must be detail oriented, and a self-motivator who can generate ideas for both independent and collaborative projects. • Must be able to work under pressure and handle multiple projects at one time. • Must be willing to provide a portfolio. • Preferred skills also include strong knowledge of the video process and animation. • Knowledge of web trends and digital technologies. Interest in photography, typography and color instincts.
