Purpose of Position: Head coach for men's and women's Track & Field and Cross Country teams. Duties include recruiting high ability student-athletes; budgeting; planning practices; coordinating practices and meets; fundraising; and being highly visible in community.
Essential Functions: Develop schedule of competition against other universities including the coordination of home meets; and coordination of all aspects of team travel and recruiting.
Actively promote the men's and women's Track & Field and Cross Country teams and Patriot Athletic programs on campus, within the University community, Tyler, East Texas and nationally.
Recruit high ability student-athletes with high moral character. Closely monitor student-athlete academic progress.
Plan, coordinate and monitor with assistant coaches the training of all track/cross country student-athletes.
Manage and plan annual budgets in coordination with the Director of Athletics.
Plan and coordinate team community service projects.
Bachelor's Degree. Three or more years' Track & Field coaching experience. Ability to manage and supervise a diverse staff and student-athletes.
Master's Degree. Five or more Years of successful NCAA DII Collegiate Track & Field/Cross Country coaching experience at competitive level; knowledge of NCAA Division II rules. CPR Certification. Strength & Conditioning Certification.
May work in extreme temperatures. May work in all weather conditions. May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
