The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is expanding the Sports Medicine staff and is looking to fill multiple Assistant Athletic Trainer positions.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing assistance to the Associate AD for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses to student athletes. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: assisting in the daily health care of student-athletes; recording and maintaining appropriate medical records for treatment given; helping to establish and implement staff and sports medicine student's in-service programs; interfacing with various internal and external personnel for referral purposes and information exchange; providing guidance to graduate students, undergraduate interns and practicum students in the Sports Medicine unit; assisting in various teaching responsibilities and in clinical education; providing support in the administrative management of the Sports Medicine unit, including assisting in the coverage of sports camps; and other miscellaneous job related duties as deemed necessary by the Associate AD for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer.

Requirements include: A Bachelor's Degree, certification by the BOC as an Athletic Trainer, First Aid/CPR/AED certifications, a valid driver's license in good standing, and one of the following education/experience combinations:
A Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years' applicable experience working in an NCAA institutional athletic environment.
An entry level Master's degree with at least 1 year of applicable experience working in an NCAA institutional athletic environment.
A post-professional Master's degree with some experience working in an NCAA institutional athletic environment.
Preferred qualifications include: 2+ years' experience working with a Division I-A institution; First Aid/CPR instructor; Experience working in the supervision and education of student interns and graduate assistants; Experience in sports medicine coverage for sports camps; CES, PES, FMS, and/or Graston certifications.
Experience working with one or more of the following sport programs is also preferred: Football, Tennis, Softball, Wrestling, Women's Field Hockey, Women's Rowing, Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving, Men's and Women's Track and Field.
Additional Salary Information: Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications.
