Graduate Assistant - Athletic Academic Services (2 positions available)

Major/Essential Duties of Job: Stephen F. Austin State University State University, a Division I member of the Southland Conference is seeking two (2) Graduate Assistants for Student-Athlete Academic Services to start during the 2018-2019 school year. The Graduate Assistant will support the Academic Center staff in the daily operations of the center, tutorial program, study hall, mentoring, and developing student success strategies. The Graduate Assistant will communicate and document student-athletes’ progress, assist with the electronic progress reporting system, and perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Academic Advisors. The Graduate Assistant will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge and practical experience in all facets of advising student-athletes at the institutional and NCAA level. The position is intended to prepare the Graduate Assistant to leave SFA with the necessary skills to easily begin a career working in athletic academic services or athletics administration. SFA consistently places Graduate Assistants at Division I institutions throughout the country. Additional Information: Graduate Assistant position begins during Summer II 2018 session and runs through the Fall and Spring school semesters. The position offers a graduate tuition and fees scholarship (with a non-resident tuition waiver if applicable) and an expense stipend. Professional development opportunities are available. Required Education and Experiences: Bachelors degree required. Proficiency in most office computer programs and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Must want to pursue future employment in the field of Athletic Academic Services or closely related field. Must enjoy working independently while meeting deadlines and performing tasks to a high level. Flexible schedule a must. Applicant must meet entry standards for the graduate school at Stephen F Austin State University.
Preferred Education and Experiences: Preference will go to candidates who demonstrate a strong desire to pursue a career in college athletics, athletics administration, or student advising. |
Additional Salary Information: This graduate assistant pays for full time graduate school enrollment and offers a competitive monthly stipend.
