Assistant Athletics Director for Broadcasting & Production

The Assistant Athletics Director for Broadcasting & Production will work as a member of the intercollegiate athletics external operations staff, reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Digital Media & Creative Services. The Assistant Athletics Director for Broadcasting & Production will serve as the departmental lead for all video production and broadcasting with the primary purpose of enhancing the Maryland Athletics brand. The Assistant Athletics Director for Broadcasting & Production will supervise the daily operations and staff of the broadcasting and production department including the Assistant Director-TerpVision & Video Operations, Assistant Director-Production, Assistant Director-Game Analysis Video, BTN2GO Coordinator, Video Editor, two Production Assistants, freelance employees and student interns. The Assistant AD will serve as the primary broadcasting and production contact with the Big Ten Network (BTN) and oversee day-to-day management and integration of the BTN partnership (TV & digital network broadcasts, Student U productions, press conferences and on-campus studio operations). This position also oversees the content creation and live event production of TerpVision video board shows for football, basketball, lacrosse and external events; oversees the creative vision, production and distribution of videos intended for umterps.com and social media; manages and directs all video needs for external operations including video shoots, post-production editing and motion graphics for all video productions; oversees audio/video infrastructure installations and maintenance including video boards, control room and production equipment; manages closed captioning services for TerpVision video board shows and umterps.com; oversees the archiving of video content including logging and storage of digital files; administers the broadcasting and production department budget, and performs other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the area of broadcasting and video production is required. Must have1-3 years of supervisory experience. Must be proficient with PC and Mac OS, Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Media Encoder), web streaming software, camera operations (HD & SD), microphones, lighting and related production equipment, arena/stadium videoboard and control room equipment. Minimum of 4 years of experience in the area of broadcasting and video production preferably at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level is preferred.
