Soka University of America (SUA) seeks a Head Men’s Soccer Coach. The Soccer Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics & Recreation. The purpose of the Head Men's Soccer Coach is to maintain and enhance the program's success as a conference, regional and national contender and carry that success into the classroom and beyond. Furthermore, the purpose of the position of the Head Men's Soccer coach is to organize and facilitate all aspects of a competitive NAIA soccer program in a professional manner that will translate into a successful and fulfilling experience for all student-athletes who are associated with the program. This position is a 12 month position that coordinates and is responsible for all aspects of the Men's Soccer program, including compliance with NAIA, Conference and University rules and regulations; recruitment of qualified, gifted student-athletes; contest scheduling; budget management and retention of student-athletes. This person must also contribute to the overall mission of the Department and University through her/his service and must serve as a mentor and leader of students.
Successful Candidates will have:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Minimum of two years recent experience managing/coordinating camps or clinics. Minimum of three years’ experience in supervising instructional staff. CPR, First aid Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to create and support a work community that allows a diverse group of students, faculty and staff to grow and develop individually and collectively as part of a collegiate athletic program. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment as needed. Competency in the use of biomechanics software programs as a tool to evaluate athlete’s skill level. Ability to organize and manage complex college record keeping function; prepare, maintain, and interpret statistical data with competency. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. High Proficiency in personal computer systems utilizing databases, word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook. Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to discern the urgency of appropriate decision making processes.
