The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Athletics is seeking an energetic and experienced fundraising professional to serve as Director of Athletic Development / Assistant Athletic Director of Development (R97731). This full time position is primarily responsible for establishing and achieving fundraising goals as the athletic department’s major gift officer. To reach and exceed specific annual goals, the successful candidate will work with alumni, parents, friends, and the central Arkansas community. The primary goal of the Director of Athletic Development is to cultivate new donors to the Trojan Athletic Association (TAA) and acquire major gifts on a consistent basis. All duties and responsibilities are governed by state, federal and university policy.
This position will manage a donor and prospect portfolio of approximately 200 people with the expectation to manage the current portfolio and add new, qualified donors to it each year. As well as, held accountable for development metrics such as face to face visits, solicitations, closed gifts, and dollars raised. The Director of Athletic Development will be responsible for the formation and implementation of the major gifts strategy and serve as the lead fundraiser for the Trojan Athletic Association (TAA). Duties include but are not limited to: day-to-day command of fundraising efforts and initiatives, creating, developing, implementing and managing comprehensive development plans, special events (i.e. SpectacUALR, Golf Shamble, etc.) and other matters that concern the day to day operations for the department of Athletics. Position will report directly to the Associate Athletic Director for External Operations and Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni and Development.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant NCAA regulations. Bachelor's Degree required with a minimum three years of experience in fund raising, sales, or a related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, verbal, and written skills. The position requires flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, attendance and hosting of a Department suite at all men’s and women’s home basketball games and any other events hosted by the Department of Athletics.
Required Education and/or Experience: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required plus three or more years of related experience in external affairs, development or sales; A strong track record of previous successful gift solicitations of $5,000+ in annual fund and/or capital campaign; Experience with comprehensive fundraising campaign; A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows application.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree preferred and knowledge of Advance or fundraising software is a plus.
