POSITION TITLE: Strength & Conditioning Summer Assistant DEPARTMENT: Athletics REPORTS TO: Director of Strength & Conditioning FLSA:Exempt TERM:3 Months (Mid May – Mid August) DAYS /HOURS: Monday-Friday, 25-30 hours per week
POSITION PURPOSE: The Charlotte Country Day School strength & conditioning internship and assistantship program is a cooperative effort designed to provide current college students and recent graduates with the opportunity to obtain professional experience in the field of strength and conditioning. The purpose of this experience is to augment formal classroom instruction, to experiment with theory and concepts, to utilize practical applications, and to begin the development of professional competency. Assistants and interns will also be exposed to different philosophies and ideas and become an active participant in integrating methodology into our system of training. The assistant position includes a monetary stipend.
ESSENTIAL FUCTIONS: The strength & conditioning summer assistant is responsible for all duties related to the administration of the strength & conditioning program as assigned by the director of strength & conditioning. Specific responsibilities include: •Assigned to lead and assist training sessions for CCDS fall team sports •Assist in the development and delivery of Athlete / Team Management software •Assist in the development and delivery of Block O program for rising 9th grade athletes •Assistance with exercise technique analysis •Maintenance of facilities and equipment •Set-up and break-down of equipment for training sessions •Maintaining and organizing training records and equipment inventory •Recording of student-athlete attendance •Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes •Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes •Compliance with all Charlotte Country Day School, Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association, and North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must be currently enrolled or graduated from a master’s program in exercise science or related field within one year of application. Additional consideration will be given to those who currently have a CSCS or have graduated from a NSCA Education Recognition Program (ERP) school. Candidates must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
