Manages the operational and personnel activities of the landscape division, which includes, but not limited to, the trees, flowers, plants, grounds, and turf (not related to the sports fields’ turf). Administers and develops department budgets, policies, procedures and goals. Directs and guides staff, plans schedules and inspects performance. Administers annual and project budgets, approves expenditures to complete assignments. Supervises the management and maintenance of the landscaping at university properties, which also includes the President’s home and the rose garden. All personnel within this department are considered “essential” personnel and therefore have special requirements for emergency/storm duty.
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Agronomy/Turf Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Forestry or related field is preferred. A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in operations involving landscape services, planning, and equipment maintenance. Experience at an institution of higher learning is preferred. Valid MS Drivers License required.
Appropriate Mississippi Commercial Applicators Licenses – Licensing in Horticultural Pest Control and in Horticultural Weed Control are required or willingness to acquire these two licensures within 6 months of employment.
