Under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach, the Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in planning and directing the education of student athletes in the techniques, skills, and theory of NCAA Division-I women's volleyball.
Assist video/scouting coordinator and technical advisor;
Serve as strength and conditioning, facilities, marketing and sports information liaison;
Act as a lead recruiter in specific regions as designated by the head coach.
Act and cooperate professionally and collegially with the media, the community, the university and the department staff and administration;
Support the department's commitment to equity and diversity.
Support the Head Coach with the following duties:
Coaching practices and competitions;
Teaching and developing sport-specific skills;
Building successful team performance to bring the program to national prominence;
Recruiting quality student-athletes;
Enforcing written team rules and building/maintaining the culture of Fresno State Volleyball;
Maintaining a budget;
Acting in compliance with NCAA, conference and university rules and policies; monitoring academic progress of team members;
Assisting in the coordination of admissions and NCAA eligibility of incoming prospects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with a positive history of rules compliance
Coaching philosophy and teaching concepts compatible with the department and Head Coach's vision
Ability and willingness to support the department's equity commitments
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students and supporters from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
Ability to project a professional attitude
A work history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
Possess or ability to possess valid Driver's License
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an institution of higher education which is accredited by one of the six U.S. regional accrediting associations or by an equivalent international institution of higher education
Minimum 2 years experience playing and/or coaching volleyball at the NCAA Division I-level
Experience building relationships and contacts with clubs on the west coast
Technical experience using Data Volley editing/scouting system and Volleymetrics
Knowledge of statistics and match strategies
Ability to formulate worksheets required for analytical studies
Ability to demonstrate all the skills taught in this program
Working knowledge of computer, video and editing systems
