Basic Function: To serve as head coach for the men’s and women’s volleyball teams and to manage the SHAPE/recreational facility.
Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities: Serve as head coach for the men’s and women’s volleyball teams: Recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Oversight of player development. Oversight of practice and game coaching. Monitor curricular and co-curricular progress of student athletes. Participate in fundraising and community service projects. Comply with NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules while supporting the philosophy of the school and conference. Serve on conference and NCAA committees as assigned.
Supervise the College SHAPE facility during scheduled time, including the fitness center, gyms, and racquetball courts; supervise student workers, graduate assistant, and group exercise instructors; assist with scheduling and coordinating community and campus use of the facility. Assist with managing the pool and climbing wall facilities during the academic year, including oversight for programming, staff and enforcement of safety standards and rules; supervise and monitor daily operations and maintenance of facilities as needed by Athletics staff. Ensure proper health and safety practices are adhered to by facility users and staff. Perform administrative and various other duties related to the SHAPE facility, intramurals, recreation, and exercise programming Manage the budget for the SHAPE facility.
Serve as a member of the Athletic Department leadership team. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management required, master’s degree preferred, plus two to four years of coaching experience at a college or university, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Broad base of knowledge and skills related to athletics and athletic facilities.
Strong knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations concerning eligibility, transfer, incoming student athletes and recruitment.
Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of college students and personnel as well as facility users and others outside of the college.
CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
Lifeguard certification preferred.
Weekend and evening work is required.
Must be available to travel, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to drive for the purpose of university business.
