Summary: The Communications Coordinator works to develop and implement communication strategies with Beat the Streets’ key constituencies (student-athletes, parents, coaches, alumni, community supporters, funders, prospective funders, and board members). The Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are in marketing and communications in an effort to promote positive public image among BTS’ various audiences. This position will also collaborate with others in the organization to achieve brand consistency, coordination of messages, and the highest standards for external communication.
Responsibilities: • Develops and implements an annual communication plan. • Identifies main audiences and determines the best way to communicate publicity information to them. • Maintains and posts to social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. • Assists in the development of a new company website and maintains pages. • Writes and posts interesting articles covering topics including but not limited to tournaments, programs, student-athletes, and coaches. • Writes and distributes interesting and effective press releases. • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with media representatives. • Composes and sends mass email communications including but not limited to the monthly e-newsletter through the marketing communication system Constant Contact. • Collaborates with staff on the creation of marketing and solicitation materials. • Maintains the Media Kit on the office server. • *The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree • Commitment to the mission of Beat the Streets • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to meet deadlines • Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively • Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals and manage several projects at once • Familiarity with social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and YouTube • Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems, HTML, Microsoft Office, and Adobe (Experience managing websites preferred)
