Job Purpose Towson University, a Division I member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is accepting applications for two open Equipment Managers positions These positions will provide assistance for the management of the Equipment Rooms.
Description The Equipment Room Manager independently manages the equipment room for either the Towson Center or the Field House. The Equipment manager assigned to the Towson Center will support the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, women's soccer, softball, baseball, men's and women's swimming & diving, women's tennis, and women's volleyball. The Equipment Manager for the Field House will support the sports of football, men's and women's lacrosse, field hockey and track/cross country. These positions will work practices and home games for assigned teams. Travel with the team to away contests as necessary. Provide backup coverage for the Field House/Towson Center when the assigned Equipment Manager is traveling with teams to away contests. Distribute, collect, inventory, maintain and repair equipment.
The Equipment Manager continues education to gain all knowledge of new safety aspects related to the sports assigned. Knows the University brand standards, NCAA and league requirements for legal attire during competitions. Communicates effectively with coaches, staff members, administrators and student athletes. Communicates with procurement representative and vendors. Supervises team managers, student staff, and laundry staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of collegiate or professional equipment room experience. Knowledge of equipment room operations, knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; basic math skills; spreadsheet creation; communication skills, problem-solving skills and demonstrated organizational skills.
An Athletic Equipment Manager's Association (AEMA) certification or the ability to obtain certification on or before March 1, 2018 is required for this position. Candidates may confirm certification or registration for the exam in the application process.
For the position in the Field House, knowledge of football and football practice operations is preferred.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
