General responsibilities for the Men’s Basketball Video Production Coordinator Contractor (VPC) are to assist the National Coordinator of Officials with the creation of instructional training videos for Men’s Basketball. This primarily entails capturing, editing and storing in-season and post-season video clips for use in training tapes, evaluation and analysis.
The VPC will assist in producing and distributing compelling digital content for NCAA men’s basketball officiating constituents, aimed at reinforcing the positive image of collegiate officiating. The VPC will also use supplied statistical data that will better serve the basketball officiating community.
An important project goal is to connect, inspire, influence and educate the basketball community on officiating the collegiate game through the platform of video, and to present the men’s basketball game from the view of the officials while educating our constituents on the rules of the game. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
•Receive, capture, edit and manipulate video clips from resources (e.g., Synergy, DVSport) for training video creation purposes. •Identify and implement strategies to support conference officiating coordinators and video coordinators to foster education, training and brand awareness. •Edit and produce weekly training tapes in conjunction with the national coordinator of officials. •Work with the national coordinator of officiating to support communication priorities. •Contemporary video journalism skills to independently capture and craft powerful stories optimized for sharing. •Develop video production plan, gather input from the national coordinator of officials, write scripts, schedule, film, and post-production work. •Produce consistent, quality video content for basketball and work with marketing team and other departments to educate, inspire, and increase brand loyalty for our basketball officiating constituents.
Required Skills, Experience and Equipment:
• Must use own equipment. No NCAA provided equipment. • Work under strict scheduled releases. • Working knowledge and ownership of digital video equipment (e.g., XOS, DVSport, Synergy) and/or editing software (e.g., Final Cut Pro or equivalent). Understanding of sport – preferably basketball and the rules that are applicable. • Writing and storytelling: Create a collaborative editorial process for planning stories, then shoot/capture and edit them into powerful narratives people want to share. • Editing: Adobe Premiere, After Effects and etc.
