Under the direction of the Head Football Equipment Manager/Area Supervisor, the incumbent will provide equipment management assistance in all aspects and daily operation of Football Equipment Room. Facilitate school corporate sponsorship footwear/apparel program. Write bid proposals and act as liaison with department-wide purchasing manager in the ordering of game and practice uniforms and athletic equipment and apparel. Assist Equipment Area Supervisor with equipment and sporting goods representatives for the purchases of team equipment, uniforms, and other apparel and supplies in excess of $900,000 annually for the athletic equipment and materials department. Coordinate measuring and fitting of student athletes for practices and competitions, per specifications of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association certification. Certification by AEMA is required for this position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of State of Wisconsin and UW purchasing policies and procedures.
Knowledge of effective procurement practices and bidding methods.
Knowledge of UW's accounting class code structure and capital equipment policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers, supervisors, UW Athletics Business Office staff and vendors.
Knowledge of the techniques used in effective oral and written communication.
Accurate keyboarding skills on both standard keyboard and numeric keypad.
Strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with the use of computer applications such as databases, email, internet, word processing and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of team and individual sports and related equipment including uses and specifications.
Ability to repair specific apparel and equipment.
Knowledge of inventory practices and procedures.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for a majority of shift.
Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) accreditation is required.
