Assists with all aspects of the athletics department compliance program and is primarily responsible for assisting with activities related to initial and continuing eligibility. Evaluates all incoming prospective student-athlete transcripts for meeting NCAA Initial Eligibility Standards. Works closely with the NCAA Eligibility Center, high school guidance counselors, prospective student-athletes, and coaches. Updates department internal reports on incoming eligibility requirements. Reviews all annually required NCAA student-athlete forms. Provides assistance to the Director of Compliance for Continuing Eligibility in the Eligibility Certification Process. Provides assistance in compiling required NCAA reports including, but not limited to, APR and GSR. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Note: Position requires incumbent to comply fully with all NCAA, Big Ten (or other conference) and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sport Management, Education or other related field and one year of experience in a compliance-related position or as a student-athlete.
Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten rules; and working knowledge of NCAAeligibility. Proven ability to be a person of integrity with high educational standards and possess a solid commitment to academic integrity, the welfare of student-athletes, and full compliance with NCAA, Big Ten and institutional rules and regulations. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including ability to work with diverse populations of faculty, staff and students and deal effectively with very strong personalities. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills including ability to organize large projects, follow through to ensure projects are completed well and on time, and work independently as well as a member of a team.
