Illinois Institute of Technology is seeking applications for a Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of an NCAA Division III athletic program. Commitment to student-athletes and their academic success, as well as athletic success, will be the key measurement of the coach’s effectiveness. The coach will comply with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations, working with the Coordinator of Athletic Compliance. Integrity and honesty in all phases of the position will demonstrate a commitment to the mission and of the university and Division III athletics.
The job reports to the Director of Athletics.
•Successfully recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes that will have interest in careers in technology, architecture and other Illinois Tech majors.
•Plan and conduct practice sessions and game day preparation and execution.
•Manage the women’s lacrosse budget with integrity.
•Work with the Coordinator of Athletic Facilities to ensure scheduled practice and contest dates and times.
•Work with the Sports Information Director to ensure all needed information concerning rosters, schedules and other pertinent information is available for use.
•Work with the Athletic Recruiting Liaison to facilitate effective communication with the Department of Admissions.
Each full-time coach at Illinois Tech will have a secondary duty, with approximately 25% of the job dedicated to another function of the Athletic Department.
In the coaching part of the position, the successful candidate will be expected to:
•Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes with a roster size consistent with the needs of an intercollegiate tennis program.
•Support student-athletes in their academic pursuits and career opportunities
•Conduct practices which prepare student-athletes for college athletic competition.
•Schedule an appropriate Division III schedule of regional opponents.
•Work with the athletic training staff to insure the highest level of health and safety for student-athletes.
•Work with the Director of Athletic Compliance to make sure that all student-athletes are eligible and aware of institutional, conference and NCAA rules which impact them.
•Work with the Sports Information Director to collect and disseminate statistics and information and promote their program to available media outlets.
•Work with the Director of Athletic Facilities to communicate game and practice schedules.
•Promote a positive image of their program as well as that of the general Athletic Department.
•Work with the Director of Athletics on goal setting and program evaluation on an annual basis.
The secondary duty for this position will be assigned by the Director of Athletics, based on the successful candidate’s experiences, abilities and interests.
This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Director of Athletics. It is a 12-month position with full benefits.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred.
Previous college coaching experience strongly preferred. Division III level strongly preferred.
Travel is required as well as the ability to work during “non-business” hours.
