Provide strategic communications direction and support for Mountain West men’s and women’s basketball, with an emphasis on leveraging digital/social media and other emerging media platforms to raise the profile of MW men’s and women’s basketball, the Conference and its member institutions.
Oversee the messaging, timing and production of all publicity materials designed to promote MW men’s and women’s basketball, including:
-- Weekly release packets
-- Superlatives (annual honors)
-- Broadcast announcements
-- Schedule announcements
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with regional and national media.
Identify opportunities to encourage/increase viewership of MW men’s and women’s basketball across multiple broadcast platforms.
Direct the planning and delivery of media operations and services for the MW Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships and other basketball events hosted by the Mountain West, such as NCAA Regional Championships and MTE events.
Direct the planning and delivery of preseason media activities such as the MW Men’s and Women’s Basketball Media Summit.
Work with the Communications Teams at MW member institutions to support their publicity efforts and, where appropriate, make certain those efforts are aligned with the Conference office.
Oversee the delivery of strategic communications support for cross country and track and field.
Assist the Chief Brand and Communications Officer with day-to-day operations, i.e. vendor contract coordination and other administrative duties.
Supervise and train strategic communications interns.

Applicants should have at least four years of full-time, professional experience working in strategic communications, media relations, marketing communications, digital/social media or a related field. Experience working in an intercollegiate, professional or Olympic/international sport environment is beneficial. Strong understanding of emerging trends in strategic communications, media relations and digital/social media. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four-year college or university is required.
The Mountain West is located in Colorado Springs, Colo., and is comprised of 11 all-sport members and 12 football-playing institutions: the United States Air Force Academy, Boise State University, Colorado State University, Fresno State, University of Hawai`i (football only), University of Nevada, University of New Mexico, San Diego State University, San José State University, UNLV, Utah State University and University of Wyoming.
