PURPOSE: The assistant golf coach of the DBU Athletic Department is to provide instruction, motivation, and support of the golf team. The coach will provide support to the head coach in the administration of an NCAA Division II men’s and women’s golf program including coaching, recruiting, training, scheduling, budget maintenance, academic support oversight, student-athlete discipleship, and marketing/promotion of program.
WORK SCHEDULE: A minimum of 40 hours per week or more to meet the requirements for a successful program. In-season and certain recruiting periods typically demand more time commitment.
RESPONSIBILITES: The assistant golf coach shall:
1.Provide servant leadership in the organization and management of the golf team. 2.a) Provide Christ-centered discipleship ministry to the team and other assistant coaches through weekly team discipleship meetings under the supervision and direction of the head coach. b) Assist the head coach with coordinating player discipleship leaders as they facilitate small-group discipleship discussions, devotionals, and Bible studies. 3.Administer the team in accordance with all applicable NCAA rules and guidelines. 4.Passionately recruit incoming freshman and transfer student-athletes who possess competitive NCAA Division II collegiate athletic ability, understanding and appreciation for the Christ-centered mission of the University and athletic program 5.Efficiently schedule tournaments in accordance with applicable conference and NCAA guidelines. 6.Effectively manage operations budget in partnership with the head coach. 7.Effectively manage scholarship budget in partnership with the head coach. 8.Execute tasks as assigned by the Head Golf Coach.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: The assistant golf coach should be a person devoted to Christ and possessing skills commensurate with the job. The coach should possess a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred. The coach should have experience at the advanced level of college coaching. The coach should also be familiar with NCAA Division II bylaws.
