Position Overview Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position of Head Baseball Coach. The successful applicant will become part of our team as we build a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction. This position will be responsible to build, lead and maintain a first year Division I program at the highest level through: recruiting, teaching techniques, scheduling (tournament, travel, training & strength), monitoring academic progress, development of volunteer/booster groups, strong relationship with local baseball organizations, budget management, fundraising, and promoting the sport throughout the University and local community. This position will report directly to the Director of Athletics and support the Department and University's mission. This position will require a strong, working knowledge and understanding of NCAA, Conference and Institutional rules and regulations.
You will have the opportunity to:
Build and manage the daily operations of a first year Baseball program.
Hire, oversee and evaluate Baseball program staff including assigning areas of responsibility.
Establish and administer the recruiting process for potential student-athletes who meet university and conference academic and athletic standards.
Engage in communication with the prospects, parents, coaches, or other advisors through extensive travel, written and verbal correspondence with the intentions of attracting these student-athletes to Boise.
Develop practice and competition strategies for the entire program.
Oversee the effective teaching techniques through team practice, film review and one-on-one instructions, to enhance the learning and development of the athlete's technical skills, either by the head coach or staff, to create a winning athletic program.
Serve as a teacher and mentor to the Baseball program student-athletes and coaching staff.
Successfully manage scholarship allocations and the program’s annual budget, including all necessary future fiscal planning.
Be responsible for overall performance of student-athletes’ academic progress by working closely with the academic support staff.
Work with the Bronco Athletic Association in its efforts to build relationships and generate gifts to the Baseball program or other department and University related objectives.
Promote the Boise State Baseball program to the public including, media, donors, the university community and the general public to increase visibility and revenues for the program.
Be responsible for the oversight and scheduling of contests.
Be responsible for oversight of all travel aspects related to the Baseball program.
Be responsible for maintaining NCAA, Conference and Boise State rules Compliance.
This position must pass the NCAA Recruiting Eligibility test annually.
A Bachelor’s Degree
Five (5) years of experience coaching baseball at the collegiate level or equivalent experience in the baseball profession
Experience and understanding of NCAA Division I Rules and Regulations
Knowledge of individual and team skills with the ability to teach these skills
Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills
Experience recruiting student-athletes
Head Coach experience
Eight (8) years of experience coaching baseball at the collegiate level or equivalent experience in the baseball profession
Experience coaching baseball at the Division I or professional level
Collegiate/professional baseball background and experience
