Purpose of Position The Assistant Athletic Director will maintain, organize and submit all records pertaining to compliance with NCAA and UT Tyler's future conference rules, while also performing certification of eligibility of student-athletes per UT Tyler and NCAA guidelines.
Essential Functions Navigate NCAA DII new member process.
Responsible for the development and management of athletic compliance programs for University and compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA policies, rules and regulations concerning recruitment, financial aid and eligibility of student-athletes.
Manage a comprehensive training program for coaches, staff, boosters, and the campus community. Manage records, documents, and training of staff.
Manage the NCAA online Compliance Assistant Program (CAi), Legislative Services Database (LSDBi), online compliance forms, Eligibility Center Member Institutional Member Portal (IRL), National Letter of Intent Certification (NLI), Institutional Certification, Institutional Athletic Staff Certification, NCAA Student-Athlete Certification, Division II Academic Tracking System, Graduation Rates, Self-Study Guide, Sports Sponsorship and Demographics forms, oversight of Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Reporting (EADA), and NCAA Applications Account Maintenance Administrator.
Coordinate NCAA drug testing.
Maintain the institutional Compliance website.
Coordinate student-athlete eligibility processing by serving as liaison to Admissions, Financial Aid, and the University Registrar. Serve on and coordinate activities for the Compliance/Eligibility Committee, as well as other committees.
Maintain all records for student-athletes. Coordinate waivers and student-athlete reinstatements, as needed. Coordinate with coaches and the University Registrar to monitor progress toward degree and other eligibility issues.
Ensure strict adherence to all NCAA by-laws and Conference regulations. Ensure adherence with established institutional athletic compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior. Ensure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletes. Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes, including issues related to gender, ethnic diversity, religion, and sexual orientation.
Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes which include providing education about and methods for discussing and resolving harassment or discrimination.
Develop strategies for monitoring athletic compliance activities. Regularly communicate with the President and Athletics Director to report athletic compliance rule violations or other athletic compliance.
Three (3) years of relevant Division II campus experience, Division II Conference Office, or the NCAA experience required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail required. Excellent working knowledge of NCAA Division II rules.
Sound working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
