This position reports to the Athletic Director. Develop, coordinate and administer a comprehensive sports medical program for College intercollegiate sports. The head athletic trainer will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree (required) in appropriate area of specialization. Master’s degree preferred, 2 – 3 years professional experience preferred.
• Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) • State of Texas Athletic Training Licensure or eligible for exam.
Must be available to work a varied schedule to include extensive night and weekend work. Must have a high degree of communication skills. Ability to create, evaluate, and document procedures. Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments. Ability to solve problems and be multi-tasked. Ability to interact with students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Ability to promote a positive campus image. Ability to follow established college policies and procedures.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Some tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort, but typically also involving some combination of sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-25 pounds). Task may involve extended periods of standing or walking. Frequent travel required.
