Graduate Assistants at Colorado Christian University (CCU) are responsible for assisting the Athletic Administration in all areas necessary to ensure the spiritual, academic and athletic success of the department. The graduate assistant must understand the dynamics of a small university setting and be a committed member of the CCU Department of Athletics. This position will report directly to the Director of Sports Information and Communications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for CCU Athletics media, including live video streaming & broadcast, social media, programs, media guides, technology and communications.
Produces videos and photographs for sports teams and the athletic department to be used for game recaps, player stories, and the athletics website.
Maintains and adds information to the CCU Athletics website CCUCougars.com.
Writes game recaps, player highlights, and other copy material which will be used on the CCU athletics website.
Run live stats and video streams so games can be viewed on website for all home games.
Hires and manages student staff necessary for athletic events.
Complete office work including maintaining record books, along with other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Information.
Assist CCU coaches with other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into one of CCU's graduate programs is required.
Experience in sports communications and videography preferred, specifically sports writing and/or broadcasting.
Knowledge of a variety of different sports including rules and terminology required.
Experience in staffing and delegating.
Professional demeanor; able to represent the CCU Athletic department at various events on and off campus.
Exhibit strong ability to communicate and interact appropriately with college student-athletes; able to disciple/mentor student-athletes in their Christian faith.
Two to four years of collegiate-level coach/player experience at the NCAA level preferred.
Experience in a similar private Christian institution desirable.
Majority of hours worked will be nights and weekends. Must be available during every home and away game for each sport CCU has a team.
Nature of Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You will be required to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
Monthly stipend of $583. Tuition waiver available for graduate classes at Colorado Christian University. Recipient is responsible for student fees each semester.
