Loyola Marymount University
With the sweeping vistas of downtown Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean, Loyola Marymount University inspires and prepares future leaders by educating the mind, heart and spirit to serve the world. Students choose Loyola Marymount because it offers challenging academics grounded in sound values and a safe and supportive environment in one of the world’s most dynamic c...ities.
LMU's Jesuit and Marymount Catholic educational traditions focus on developing the “whole person” – mind, heart and spirit – through the liberal arts and sciences. We develop students to be fulfilled in their own lives and careers, and to be compassionate and involved in their communities. Our student count on one-on-one time with dedicated faculty and the learning that occurs outside the classroom to complete their educational experience.
For the 6,000 undergraduates and 3,000 graduate students at LMU and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles is a laboratory for understanding the complexity of cultures, industries, images and opportunities that the Southland embraces. LMU has one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse student bodies of any private university. In this setting, our graduates build their lives and their careers on shared values of respect, social justice and ethics.
LMU is also home of the Lions, offering 20 varsity sports, 19 of which compete at the Division I level within the NCAA. The athletic history at LMU spans more than 90 years, bringing a new level of success each year. Recently, the Lions have sent 30 teams to the NCAA tournament while winning over 25 conference championships since 2000. In the same time, over 50 student-athletes have earned All-America honors. In 2005-2006, the Lions won the West Coast Conference Commissioner’s Cup as the best all-around athletics program. Over 100 years ago the Lions began Building Champions. The work continues in 2017.
The LMU benefits program allows each faculty/staff member to select his/her own personalized package by choosing from a variety of benefits. The University pays a portion of the cost of the faculty/staff member's health care, employee life, accidental death and dismemberment and long term disability plans.
