Job Purpose Towson University, a Division I member of the Colonial Athletic Association is accepting applications for an Assistant Softball Coach, Pitching. This position, under the direction of the head coach, teaches and provides instruction in the sport of softball and assists in the planning, promotion and administration of a quality Division I softball program with a focus on pitching.
Description The Assistant Softball Coach will provide skill instruction for student athletes, including independent planning and implementation of a season long plan for a set group of athletes; participate in all aspects of practice instruction and game coaching with a heavy focus on pitching; under the direction of the head coach, recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes through the use of New Media Technologies, organizing official visits, including assigning hosts, creating travel itineraries and managing all budgetary elements of visits while adhering to all NCAA regulations; track all admissions through the application process of our prospective student-athletes; provide instruction to student-athlete hosts on department/NCAA policies & procedures for a visit; assist with academic support, fundraising activities, community servicing including communication and outreach to Alumni; coordinate with Total Tiger Program director to track and maintain accurate records of all student-athlete participation in Total Tiger programs; assist in all team operations including travel, bus, hotel, and restaurant plans; maintain video system; assist in creating scouting reports; responsible for knowledge and adherence to NCAA rules, including completing monthly logs and summaries in correspondence with the Compliance Office; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and one year of successful coaching experience at the camp/clinic, high school, or collegiate level. The selected candidate must have knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and excellent communication skills. Preferences include pitching experience at the Division I or II level; ability to pitch batting practice; coaching experience at the Division I level; and pitching experience at the collegiate level.
