Represent and assist the senior compliance professional managing the overall day-to-day operations of the compliance office. The position is responsible for monitoring and ensuring institutional compliance with NCAA, Big Ten and University rules, regulations, and policies. Including, but not limited to, assisting with elite and high level matters related to our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and sport programs. Develop and facilitate educational programming for coaches, staff, student-athletes and donors. Participate in the development and maintenance of compliance website and social media efforts. Communicate department's compliance philosophy and procedures to university personnel, student-athletes and Alumni. Provide research and recommendations with educational outreach regarding NCAA or Big Ten rules.
Five years of athletics compliance-related work experience in intercollegiate athletics or related legal experience.
Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), planning, problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to read, analyze, interpret, instruct and effectively communicate complex rules, regulations and policies from the University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA.
Ability to effectively communicate with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, parents, faculty, staff, and high school staff members.
Interpersonal and customer service skills in dealing sensitively with a wide variety of constituents.
Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
Handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes.
Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, etc.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
