The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Softball Coach. This position assists the Head Coach in the organization, administration and promotion of all aspects of the NCAA Division I program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, instructing and teaching athletes in fundamentals of softball, coaching technique and strategy. Assists coaching staff in identifying, evaluating, and successfully recruiting academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes. Assists with planning practice sessions and in making strategic decisions during competitions. The assistant coach will also perform administrative duties, with a commitment to adhering to University, Big 12 Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, and regulations. This position will contribute to and enhance a positive learning environment, competitive athletic experience, and atmosphere conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes. Will establish and maintain effective interactions with the university community, alumni, media and the public.
The position requires solid work ethic, extensive knowledge of the sport of softball, along with strong motivational, coaching, teaching and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to travel extensively during the recruiting season.
Required: Bachelor’s degree. Experience coaching or competing in softball at a highly competitive level.
Preferred: Experience coaching softball at collegiate, professional, or elite club level. Successful NCAA Division I softball experience. Experience recruiting and coaching highly skilled student-athletes.
