Marian University invites applications for a Graduate Assistant, Baseball Coach. The graduate assistant baseball coach works in conjunction with Marian University’s athletic department, reports to the Head Baseball Coach, Assistant Baseball Coach, and Director of Athletics. The assistant baseball coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach and assistant coach in all phases of our NCAA Division III baseball program within compliance of Marian University, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
The essential functions will include the following; In cooperation with the Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Baseball Coach, the Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach will assist in developing and maintaining a system to identify prospective student-athletes and to work closely with area club and high school coaches to recruit quality student-athletes. Assist in retaining current student-athletes. Adhere to all Department, University, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. A strong hitting/offensive baseball background is a must. Assist in monitoring student-athletes academic progress. Assist in practice preparation, evaluation, and implementation. Assist the Head and Assistant Coach with all game day responsibilities. Assist with all phases of Marian Baseball Camps. Oversee all baseball field and indoor facility rentals throughout the academic year, including summer. Assist in Athletic fundraising campaigns. Assist in scouting future opponents. Serves as a role model for the student athletes by exhibiting ethical and professional conduct at all time. Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees. Additional significant duties will be assigned (based on qualifications and departmental need). Other duties as assigned by Head and Assistant Baseball coach and/or Director of Athletics.
The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree plus previous collegiate or junior level playing required. Acceptance into a Marian University Master’s degree program. Must have willingness to work nights, weekends, summers, and holidays. Familiarity with NCAA Division III rules and regulations. Valid driver’s license is required. There must be willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.
