The University of Houston Athletic Department, an NCAA Division I institution and American Athletic Conference member, is seeking applications for a graduate assistant position with the Cougar Pride Development office. This is a 12 month appointment with the opportunity to extend to 24 months.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Development and the H Association Executive Board, responsibilities of this position are split between the Cougar Pride Development office and the H Association.
The H Association is a self-endowed, 501 (c) 3, non-profit organization of varsity letterwinners in NCAA sanctioned sports, sponsored by the University of Houston. Its mission is to unite all University of Houston varsity letterwinners and honorary members in a community that blends great traditions of the past, present and future through social interaction and projects that support the University of Houston Athletics.
Cougar Pride responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
• Process Donations and ticket purchases via Spectra • Manage and update donor accounts via Spectra • Manage Cougar Pride phone, email, and social media • Assist with various coordination, communication, and execution of Cougar Pride events • Prepare and edit general correspondence to Cougar Pride members and prospects • Assist and coordinate the TDECU Stadium Seat Upgrade process with the Houston Athletics Ticket Office • Football, Basketball and Baseball game day responsibilities as assigned • Serve as a liaison for several restricted giving clubs (Baseball, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, Track & field, Cross Country, Volleyball) • Other duties as assigned
H Association responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
• Promote the H Association and encourage participation from all former student-athletes related to various sports programs • Attend monthly H Association Board Meetings and provide written and oral status on assigned H Association tasks/projects with recommendations for follow up • Meet with Director of Operations for each of the 17 varsity sports to discuss mutual needs and issues of the respective sports and the H Association • Maintain active H Association membership: track and code membership, add graduating student-athletes each semester into database, increase membership through active outreach efforts, distribute membership and benefit information through new MobileUp application • Develop and implement a comprehensive (and active) communication plan to reach out to all former student-athletes including but not limited to: newsletter, social media, website, and various publications • Promote and help coordinate H Association events throughout the year (tailgates, reunions, social hours, BBQ, golf tournament and annual meeting) • Implement various recognition programs: celebrate athletic milestones, graduating senior ring ceremony, Cougar Choice Awards, etc. • Educate current Houston student-athletes and Coaches about the history and heritage of UH Athletics, while educating them on the H Association • Other duties as assigned

Compensation: Compensation will cover up to $3,500 per semester (Fall and Spring) in tuition for University of Houston Graduate program and will include a $12,000 annual stipend paid monthly for 12 month appointment.

Bachelor’s degree and admission to University of Houston Graduate Program required. Prefer Business/Sports Management degree or intercollegiate student-athlete experience. Strong interpersonal, Microsoft Office, and organizational skills also preferred. Selected candidate must have strong attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
