Davidson College invites applications for the position of Assistant Women's Tennis Coach. This is a full-time, 12-month position and includes full college benefits, salary commensurate with experience.
Facilitate a positive environment for players and coaches.
Train and develop student athletes, in the sport's skills, strategies, and techniques.
Assist with budget, scheduling, equipment, travel logistics, strength and conditioning, and fundraising.
Help with player development, including planning of practice sessions and implementing goals for competition.
Recruit qualified Prospective Student Athletes (PSA), e.g., through evaluation and identification of prospective student athletes; by evaluation of skill and academic performance; contact and communication with PSA's and families; and cultivation of relationships with high school and two-year coaches.
Abide by all NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference and Davidson College rules, policies and procedures.
Actively participate in the education and enforcement of NCAA Rules within the sport community.
Work closely with the athletic training staff to ensure the safety of all student-athletes.
Represent the program and Davidson College with sportsmanship, integrity, and professionalism.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required; at least two years of college coaching experience required; possession of good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as good organizational skills and basic computer skills necessary. Collegiate playing experience is strongly preferred, but other candidates with a demonstrated high level of skill and proficiency as a competitive tennis player may be considered.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate effectiveness in coaching college level players, good supervisory skills, and the ability to relate to students in a leadership role. Additionally understanding of student athletes in a demanding academic environment and a commitment to the highest ideals of leadership, sportsmanship and academics are required.
