The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse seeks applications for the 70% position of Assistant Gymnastics Coach /Exercise and Sport Science (ESS) Associate Lecturer.
Assistant Coach (40%, 9-month appointment):The position of Assistant Gymnastics Coach will hold a 40% appointment in the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (“the Department”) and will report directly to UWL’s Head Gymnastics Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist in the management of daily operations of a Division III intercollegiate gymnastics program competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with responsibilities including, but not limited to, assisting in the planning, recruiting, coaching, developing, implementing, and administering of the gymnastics program to meet University and Department objectives. They will also be responsible for various administrative tasks associated with running an intercollegiate gymnastics program, potentially including, but not limited to, coaching events, leading warm-ups and conditioning, recruiting, alumni relations, social media, and coordinating fundraising and camps. The Assistant Coach must display professional conduct and sportsmanship to bring credit upon the University, the Department, the UWL gymnastics program and UWL student athletes.
Associate Lecturer (30%, 9-month appointment): The position of Associate Lecturer in the Department of ESS will teach in one of the following areas: Physical Activities, Coaching, Exercise Science or Sport Administration beginning August 28, 2017. This position will provide teaching expertise for courses in the area of lifetime activities and coaching. Experience playing or coaching gymnastics at high school, club, or collegiate level.
Experience in spotting and technical aspects of high-level gymnastics skills.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Master’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Sport Management, Physical Education or closely related field. • Previous teaching experience at the secondary school or university and collegiate level in physical education, exercise science or health. • Demonstrated experience in college recruiting. • Choreography experience • Knowledge of NCAA Division III and WIAC rules. • Experience working with diverse populations.
