Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is seeking applications for the role of SID/Director of Athletics Communication. Belhaven is an NCAA Division III institution, participates as a member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC), the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). Belhaven Athletics sponsors a total of seventeen sports programs.
The Director of Athletics Communication/SID reports directly to the Vice President and Director of Athletics and is responsible for the planning and administration of all aspects of the Athletics Communication Department, including: Accurate statistical recording and archival; relationships with media; pre and post event coverage; compiling, distributing and interpreting statistics for press releases, award recognition and archival purposes; website and social media management, photography, web streaming and broadcasts; creation of Athletics publicity and publications; frequent travel to athletics events; leadership of a staff including two Graduate Assistants and student workers; maintaining responsibility for expense control with all program expenditures; directing the program within NCAA, ASC and NCCAA rules and regulations.
Demonstrated success in the field of collegiate athletics communication and a Bachelor’s degree. Experience with Stat Crew, Photoshop, Adobe In-design and Final Cut Pro software programs. Effective verbal and written communication skills; sound interpersonal skills in dealing with student-athletes, departmental and University personnel, as well as members of the community; and ability to operate within budget parameters. Prior work experience in Athletics Communication at an NCAA institution is preferred.
