Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine - Athletic Training
The certified athletic trainer is a tenure-track, non-classroom faculty position that assist the Coordinator of Athletic Training. Responsibilities will include all aspects of the athletic training program including but not limited to organization, maintenance, supervision, administration and coordination of healthcare services for intercollegiate student athletes. The nature of the work will include the need for work outside the normal academic schedule. This includes but is not limited to early morning, evening, weekend, holiday and breaks between academic sessions.
Specific Job Responsibilities: •The Certified Athletic Trainer will be the primary provider of athletic training coverage for the football program, and is responsible for providing athletic training coverage and services for other Intercollegiate varsity sports team(s) + cheerleading as assigned. Coverage and services for games, events and practices as required includes but is not limited to per the Athletic Training Coverage Classification: · Injury Prevention · Injury Protection · Injury Assessment · Injury Rehabilitation – including providing education and guidance to injured ESU athletes, use of therapeutic exercise/equipment and therapeutic modalities.
•Assists the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services with the administration of athletic training services for student athletes;
•Provides coverage for all home and away football contests in accordance with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference policies;
•Provides the Head Coaches with regular updates regarding student athlete injuries and rehabilitation progress;
•Assists the Coordinator for Athletic Training Services with providing appropriate guidance, instruction, training, supervision and evaluation of graduate assistants and student interns assigned to the department;
•Oversight and organization of summer sports camps medical coverage;
•Performs other duties as they arise or as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications: A Master’s Degree is required in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related field. NATA Certification, PA Certification, CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, minimum of one years’ experience as a certified high school or college level required.
Preferred Qualifications: A thorough knowledge with NCAA, PSAC rules, regulations and policies is preferred.
