Job Summary: Responsible for the success of the total teaching/learning process within the assigned classroom, laboratory, shop , or other learning environment. Carries out all of the duties and responsibilities of a faculty member while performing the coaching function as it relates to the assigned sport.
Essential Job Functions: •Performs and carries out instruction, including careful planning of the course, preparation of lessons, meeting all scheduled classes, clearly informing students of course requirements, and fairly and impartially grading all students in accordance with the standards established by the institution. •Sets a high standard in academic and scholarly excellence, personal integrity, and professional ethics. •Conducts class discussions of subject matter within the scope of the course, the instructor's field of expertise, and professional competence. •Contributes to curriculum studies. •Adheres to the course syllabi and textbooks adopted for each course. •Participates as a faculty representative at meetings such as convocations, commencement exercises, and honors day assemblies. •Teaches classes as assigned by the Dean of Instruction, Program Coordinator, and/or the Vice President of Instruction. •Establishes and maintains office hours. •Maintains work area, shops, labs, and/or equipment in safe and sound condition. •Works individually and collaboratively with others to recruit new student-athletes. •Fields a team that will be competitive within the guidelines set by institutional policies and the NJCAA. •Conducts practice and physical conditioning sessions for student athletes within the appropriate sport. Coaches team during competition. •Schedules team activities, sporting events, team travel, and field/court maintenance. •Recruits student athletes for the assigned sport. •Submits all paper work in an appropriate and timely manner. •Establishes, maintains, and works within a budget for the assigned sport.
Minimum Required Education:
Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the instructional area being taught; or a combination of experience and education that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Minimum Required Experience:
Preferred: Experience as a coach
Preferred: Experience in higher education
Preferred: CDL (commercial driver's license) with the passenger endorsement
Ability to be detail-oriented.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to operate an IBM compatible computer and other standard office equipment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to think critically and apply appropriate problem-solving skills.
