The Academic Services Graduate Assistant for Athletics is primarily responsible for assisting the Academic Services staff in carrying out internal operations for the Academic Success Center. The Graduate Assistant will also assist the Academic Services staff in various tasks related to the academic performance and enrichment of student-athletes, as well as administrative duties, as assigned. This individual shall report directly to the Academic Services Director. Duties and responsibilities:
Assist with the supervision of daytime and evening study hall and tutorial sessions Assist with the daily operation of the Academic Success Center Become knowledgeable of academic policies and procedures at Southeast Missouri State University Make appropriate referrals to necessary campus resources, such as Student Support Services, Mathematics Learning Center, Writing Center, TRIO Program, Career Services, etc. Attend all meetings as requested and share information with Academic Services staff Perform class attendance monitoring of student-athletes Assist with other academic support and student development programming Regularly communicate the progress, outcomes, and direction of work to the Academic Services Director. Understand rules compliance is a critical element to this position and adhere to all NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference, and Southeast Missouri State University rules and regulations.
Minimum qualifications: BA or BS degree and admittance to a graduate program. Experience: Prior experience as a student-athlete, tutor, or mentor preferred but not required.
Skills: Candidates must be highly motivated with excellent written and oral communication skills. Applicants should possess strong organizational skills and be able to assume a variety of independent responsibilities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate academic integrity and confidentiality. This is graduate assistant position that requires the ability to work some nights and weekends.
