Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach (AA# 07-6-476) who possesses the expertise and organizational skills needed to work with 20 NCAA Division II and one Division I Intercollegiate sports programs. The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach is a full-time, permanent, 12-month benefits eligible position that requires assisting all head coaches with the organization and supervision of strength and conditioning for all varsity programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: designing and conducting proper instruction in lifting techniques, injury prevention and nutritional best practices. The individual will create workouts, conduct rehabilitative exercises for injured student-athletes as prescribed by the Athletic Trainer, perform regular tests of student-athlete progress to determine the effectiveness of the strength and conditioning programs, and update the respective sport head coach. The successful candidate will develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with administration, coaches, staff, and the Student Health Center/Health and Wellness programs, while assisting the Director of Athletic Operations with scheduling workouts, daily upkeep of the weight room, and facility upgrades or equipment purchases. Other duties may be assigned by the Athletic Director.
Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Candidate must have and maintain CPR and AED certification, and be certified by a nationally recognized strength & conditioning program. Additionally, the candidate must adhere to and comply with NCAA, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, Eastern Wrestling League and Bloomsburg University policies and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience in collegiate strength & conditioning, knowledge of strength training, speed, agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular conditioning is required. The candidate must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving student-athletes while demonstrating strong written/verbal communication, organizational skills, and the ability to meet multiple demands in a fast-paced environment. The position will require flexible hours that includes evening and weekend work.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and criminal background. Finalists for the position must communicate well and successfully complete an on-campus interview process.
